Privacy Policy

Understand your information. Stay in control.

Last updated:

1. Scope and developer

This Privacy Policy applies to the DueMark iOS app and duemark.tech website provided by Bing Zhou (“we”, “us”). It explains how personal information is handled when you use these services. The information involved depends on the sign-in, sync, reminder, purchase and feedback features you use.

2. Information and its purposes

  • Account and identity: When you sign in with email or Apple, we process your email address, Apple-provided account identifier, user identifier, nickname and profile information you provide for authentication, identity linking and account management. If you use Hide My Email, we process the relay address provided by Apple.
  • Dates and records: Titles, dates, notes, recurrence rules, reminder settings, activity and version records are used to display your information, provide reminders and recovery, and support the account sync features you use. Records synced to our servers are not stored solely on your device.
  • Countdown books and custom images: We process countdown book names, icon settings and images you actively choose as countdown book icons to save, display and sync those books. An image may be cropped, resized or compressed on your device before it is uploaded to Tencent Cloud COS, so it is not necessarily stored only on your device. Screenshots you choose when submitting feedback are also uploaded for investigating and handling your feedback.
  • Device and service operation: Requests may contain an installation identifier, IP address, platform, app version, language, country or region, time zone and request logs. These support account association, security, troubleshooting and regional content. The app may automatically create a guest identity after launch. Guest use of online services can associate related records and requests with that guest identity and installation identifier; guest use does not mean that all data stays only on the device.
  • Notifications: To maintain device notification bindings and permission status, the app may register for remote notifications with Apple and sync the push token, notification permission status, time zone and app version to our server even when notification display permission is off. Whether a notification is shown depends on your system settings. Notifications may contain event titles and appear on your lock screen; adjust notifications and previews to suit your needs.
  • Purchases: For in-app purchases, we process product and transaction identifiers and purchase or subscription status to activate and restore entitlements. Apple processes payments; we do not receive your payment card number.
  • Feedback: We process feedback text, screenshots, contact email and related client information you submit to investigate issues and respond. Do not include passwords, verification codes or unnecessary sensitive information.

3. Website and local storage

The website saves your language preference in browser localStorage (duemark-locale). For initial automatic language selection, your browser requests IP-based country or region information from ipapi.co. That provider receives your IP address and network request information; this does not access precise GPS location. The website also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives the network information associated with those requests. Hosting services may log IP addresses, access times, paths and browser information to serve and secure the website.

You can change the language manually or clear site data. Clearing it may trigger language detection on a later visit. The standalone privacy and terms pages use system fonts and do not run IP detection scripts.

4. Device permissions and choices

Notification permission enables date reminders and can be changed or withdrawn in iOS Settings. The app may still maintain the remote notification registration and permission state described above after display permission is withdrawn. When choosing a countdown book image or submitting feedback screenshots, you choose the files to provide or share. Photos access is used for those functions and can be changed in iOS Settings; withdrawing it does not automatically delete files already uploaded. Withdrawing permission does not affect prior lawful processing, but may prevent the associated feature from working. Avoid unnecessary personal information about other people in records, screenshots or notifications.

5. Service providers and disclosures

Depending on the features you use, providers include Apple for sign-in, App Store purchases and push notifications; Tencent Cloud COS for storing countdown book images and feedback screenshots you choose to upload; server providers; verification email providers; and ipapi.co and Google Fonts for the website. When translation is enabled, non-Chinese feedback text may be processed by Google translation services to help us understand and respond. Providers that process information on our behalf are required to use it only as needed for the agreed service, apply appropriate security measures and meet applicable data protection requirements. They may not use entrusted information for unrelated purposes without lawful authorization. Apple and other independent platforms provide their own services under their respective policies.

We may also process or disclose necessary information to meet legal obligations, respond to lawful requests and protect users and service security. Content you choose to share or export goes to the recipients you select.

Related policies: Apple, Tencent Cloud, ipapi and Google.

6. Retention and account deletion

Information is stored on your device and on the servers or provider systems used for the relevant service. Retention depends on the service purpose and applicable legal requirements. You manage local copies; uninstalling the app does not delete your account or cloud data.

To delete your account, open “Me → tap your avatar or account information → User Details → Delete Account” in the app. Account deletion takes effect immediately after you confirm. We delete the account and associated cloud personal information as part of that deletion operation, except for information that must legally be retained. Account deletion is different from moving an individual record to the recycle bin and does not automatically cancel Apple subscriptions. You must separately remove copies you previously exported elsewhere.

7. Your rights

You can manage records and account details in the app, adjust notification permissions and request account deletion through “Me → tap your avatar or account information → User Details → Delete Account”. To request access, correction, deletion, a copy of your information or to object to processing, contact the email below. We will verify your identity and handle requests under applicable law. We ask only for information necessary to verify the request and prevent unauthorized access.

8. Security and services across regions

We use measures such as access controls, authentication and transport protection to safeguard information. No storage or transmission method is completely secure; protect your device and sign-in credentials. Service providers may process requests or service data outside your region. Such processing is subject to applicable data protection requirements.

9. Children

Minors should use the service with parental or guardian consent or guidance where required by applicable law. A guardian who believes a child has provided information that should not be processed can contact us to request investigation and appropriate action.

10. Policy changes

We update this policy and its update date when services or information practices change. Where a material change requires additional notice or consent, we will follow applicable legal requirements.
